Pre-K
Pre-K (the year prior to kindergarten), strives to prepare your child for kindergarten. We work daily on fostering independence and building confidence socially and academically.
Pre-Kindergartners …
- Learn the sound and shape of letters as well as how to write each one
- Begin by building letters with wood pieces and progress to writing in an activity book
- Continue to strengthen their hands using fine motor skills practice
- Learn math in a whole-group or small-group setting using the Texas Pre-K Guidelines
- Explore counting, one-to-one correspondence, simple grouping (addition), money through play, shapes, colors, sizes, patterns and more
- Experience Learning Centers such as art, math, science, dramatic play, blocks, reading and fine motor skills to bring learning to life
- Gather for group time once or twice each day to learn about the calendar, pledges, songs, Bible verses and for prayer
- Look forward to romp (music and movement), computer and science special classes, chapel and outdoor playground
